Some things are easier said out loud — to no one.
Confess Quietly guides you through five short spoken steps with fixed, pre-written prompts. You speak. At the end you choose: download your recording to keep, or destroy it, completely. There is no feed, no audience, no account — and no one listening on the other end.
Private by design: your voice is recorded only in this tab’s memory. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored on any server, nothing is transcribed. Closing this tab erases everything. The only permanent choice is the file you download yourself.
Not therapy, and not medical care. This is a quiet room, not a clinician. And it is not a religious sacrament: nothing here grants absolution. If you are preparing for confession, the faith pack below is an examination of conscience — preparation only.
Choose what to set down
One pack, five steps, a few minutes. The first pack is free and complete — it is the whole ritual, not a demo. Pro packs give the same room a different door.
Before you begin
- Find a private moment. Headphones are suggested — they make it easier to speak honestly, and keep your voice in the room.
- Your browser will ask for microphone permission. The recording stays in this tab’s memory. Deny it, and you can simply type each step instead.
- There is no save button because there is nothing to save to. At the end you download your recording, or you destroy it. Closing the tab destroys it too.
- Go at your pace. Each step allows up to 2 minutes of speaking. You can re-record any step as many times as you like.
Step 1 of 5
Press the circle and speak. Press Stop when you are done — or just let the timer run out.
You said it
Now choose what happens to it
Everything below happens on this device. Downloading is the only way anything survives; destroying is final. There is no copy anywhere else — there never was.
Keepsake card PRO
A calm, printable card of your prompts and notes — for a journal, a drawer, or a frame you never hang.
Or let it go
Destroying drops every recording and note from this tab’s memory, for good. Nothing was ever saved anywhere else.
It’s gone.
Every recording and every note from this session has been dropped from this tab’s memory. Nothing was saved anywhere, nothing was sent anywhere, and nothing can be recovered — by you, by us, or by anyone.
That was the point. Take a breath.
It’s yours now.
Your copy is on your device — the file you downloaded is the only copy that exists. This tab has let go of the rest: closing it leaves nothing of this session behind.
Store the file somewhere that feels right. It was never ours to keep.
How it works
- Choose a pack. Seven sets of five fixed prompts — general, guilt, an apology never sent, grief, relationships, work & money, and an examination of conscience.
- Speak each step. Press record, answer the prompt out loud, listen back, re-record if you want. Up to 2 minutes a step free; 10 minutes with Pro.
- Decide at the end. Download one WAV file of the whole confession, plus a text file of the prompts and any notes you typed.
- Or destroy it. One confirmed tap and it is gone from memory — the way a spoken confession in a quiet room is gone.
Why voice?
Typing edits as it goes — the sentence gets managed before it gets honest. Speaking is harder to polish. A confession said out loud, even to an empty room, lands differently: you hear your own voice say the true thing, once, and it stops being unsaid.
The prompts are fixed on purpose. Nothing here generates, responds, judges, or remembers. There is no AI in this room — just questions someone wrote carefully, in advance, for exactly this moment.
Privacy by design — and its honest limits
- Nothing leaves your device. Recording, playback, and the WAV file are all built in your browser, from memory, in this tab.
- No account, no server storage. There is no database of confessions. There is no database. We could not read yours if we wanted to — and we do not want to.
- No transcription. Your voice is never turned into text by us. The text download contains the prompts and only the notes you typed yourself.
- No analytics on your session. What you say, how long you speak, and what you type are never measured or sent anywhere.
- The honest limits: if you buy Pro, PayPal processes that payment (that is PayPal, doing payments — it never sees your confession). Your browser and device are yours: a downloaded file is as private as the device you keep it on.
Packs & pricing
Free always includes: the complete Set it down ritual, recording, the merged WAV download, the text download, and destroying — the core is never paywalled. Pro ($7.99 one-time) adds the six themed packs, up to 10 minutes per step, and the keepsake card.
FAQ
Is anything saved?
No. Your recordings and notes exist only in this tab’s memory while the session is open. Nothing is written to any server, and nothing is kept between visits except one small thing: whether Pro is unlocked on this browser.
What happens if I close the tab?
It’s gone. The session lives in the tab’s memory; closing or refreshing it erases the recordings and notes, unrecoverably. If you want to keep anything, download it first.
Is this therapy?
No. It is not therapy, counseling, or medical care, and it does not diagnose or treat anything. If you are struggling, a person can help in ways a webpage cannot — the crisis lines at the top of this page are a place to start.
Is this Catholic confession?
No. The sacrament of confession happens with a priest, in person; a website cannot offer it, and this one does not pretend to. The Examination of conscience pack is preparation only — a quiet review to bring with you.
What format is the download?
One WAV file — your five steps merged in order, so it plays anywhere. Plus a plain text file with the prompts and any notes you typed. There is no transcript of your voice; the tool never makes one.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes — in a modern mobile browser (Safari on iPhone, Chrome on Android). The recorder adapts to what your browser supports, and the download is always the same WAV. If your browser cannot record, you can type each step instead and still download or destroy.
Why is there no AI listener?
On purpose. Some things should be said to a room, not a model. The prompts are fixed, the responses are none, and the privacy is structural rather than promised.
